It's official! The Muppets ordered to series!

1955, 1976, 1989, 1996. What do those years have in common? They were the years each nightly Muppet series premiered (Sam & Friends, The Muppet Show, The Jim Henson Hour, and Muppet Tonight if you need a refresher.)

We can now add 2015 to the list as last night, word spread that ABC ordered the new Muppet show, tentatively titled The Muppets to series!

From EW:
The Muppets will officially return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show (first photo above). For the first time ever, the series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires—a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages. The recent pilot presentation, we’re told, received a standing ovation when it screened for ABC executives a couple weeks ago. Bill Prady and Bob Kushell are co-writers and executive producers alongside Randall Einhorn and Bill |
Some reports say it's a full season order, while other say it was ordered to series without
mentioning what the episode count currently stands.

The Muppet Show produced 120 episodes, while The Jim Henson Hour and Muppets Tonight had a combined total of 35. Here hoping this new Muppets show runs at least 120 or more!
