UK Muppet Egg Cups!

Disney released a set of Muppet egg cups in the UK.

Why eggs need a cup is beyond me, but these do remind me of the original Muppet egg cups Sigma produced in late 70's.

Both in terms of character selection and how they're produced, these mugs certainly aren't as great as the originals. I mean, how can you beat sculpted cups featuring Statler and Waldorf, Sam Eagle, and Zoot, with generic stock of Kermit, Gonzo, Animal, and Fozzie.

However, if you're fan in the UK with eggs rolling all over the place and need a cup to keep them steady, these new egg cups could be worse.

In 2010, Lionsgate released Fraggle Rock: Scared Silly a DVD compilation of three of Fraggle Rock's more spooky episodes.

"A Dark Stormy Night" from season 3 was included in the release and features a subplot in which Doc builds a ghost detector to make Sprocket feel safe.

With Halloween fast approaching and in honor on Gerry Parkes passing this week we present Fraggle Rock, Episode 321: "A Dark and Stormy Night."

Limited Edition Vinylmation Trading Night Kermit!

Friday saw the surprise release of a limited edition Vinylmation Trade Night Kermit "eachez" figure.

The figure, with an edition size of 500, was only available at D Street in Disneyland® Resort's Downtown Disney® District and quickly sold out.

"Eachez" is Disney's term for limited editions with variants. There are 9 out of 10 chances of getting a green Kermit the Frog and 1 out of 10 chances of getting the clear version. With an edition size of only 500 total that makes 450 total green "common" Kermit's and 50 total clear Kermit's.

Each blind box originally retailed for $16.95, as you can imagine, they immediately hit ebay and vinyl trading sites for prices many times that.

Gerry Parkes R.I.P.

Sad news to report , our friends at ToughPigs have learned of the passing of Gerry Parkes.

While he had a long career in TV and film including a memorable part in the Boondock Saints films, he will always be remembered by Muppet fans as Fraggle Rock's Doc.

After Fraggle Rock, Parkes reprized the role in 1987's A Muppet Family Christmas in which he tried to rent Ma Bear's farmhouse for a "nice quite Christmas in the country." (Skip to 2:25 in the video below to see him meeting Ma Bear and the rest of Muppet Show Muppets)

Head  over to ToughPigs to read their great tribute and remember: "The turkey's not the turkey, the turkey's the turkey, you turkey", and more appropriately "You cannot  leave the magic."

As Kermit once said, " What a sweet guy."  You'll be missed, Doc!

Now That's What I Call Disney 3!

Volume 3 of the "Now That's What I Call Disney" series will be released next week and will feature two Muppet songs.

"Life's a Happy Song" from The Muppets, and "We're Doing a Sequel" from Muppets Most Wanted will join such Disney classics as "Friend Like Me", "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" and "I Just Can't Wait to Be King", along with modern tunes from Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled and Frozen.

You  can see the entire track list and pre-order your copy from Amazon

Throwback Thursday: Sweetheart Labyrinth Cups!

Did you ever want gargle water from a Firey or Ludo cup after brushing your teeth?
Well, I was shocked to discover that you could do just that!

In 1986, the Sweetheart company released not one, but two different sets of Labyrinth cups!

The set of 40 9oz "Cold Cups", had two designs.

Hoggle and Sir Diddymus share opposite sides of one cup and Ludo and a Firey on the other.

The set of 100 "Kitchen Cups" contained smaller 5oz cups.

These cups featured Ludo, Firey, Sir  Diddymus, Hoggle, and a Goblin on their own separate cups and with different designs.

Both sets featured a mail away offer for a Labyrinth movie poster.

What makes these even more special is, at the time of this post, these do not yet exist on the Muppet Wiki!
