Swedish Chef Food & Wine Vinylmation!

For the past few years Disney has released a special Vinylmation for the Food & Wine Festival held at the Epcot theme park. Usually the figure is chef from a Disney film, such as Chef Louis from The Little Mermaid or Chef Gusteau from Ratatouille. This year it's the Swedish Chef that gets the special "Eachez" Food and Wine Vinylmation treatment.

For those that are wondering, "Eachez" refers to way these Vinylmation are sold. Each is blind boxed and either contains the common or variant version. It hasn't been revealed which is which yet, but typically the messy version is the variant.

These will be available only at Epocot's Food & Wine Festival which runs from September 25 - November 16, 2015.

New "Muppets" posters!

We were a little concerned that the Muppets have a new show coming out, yet all the
promotional material so far featured the same imagery we've seen since 2011.

Well, the first posters for the new show are out and they definitely show a side of the
Muppets we haven't seen before.

Take a look...

Edgy, but just Muppety enough to play it up for laughs. I think they convey the series' tone well.

Happy Birthday, Jerry Juhl!

Today we wish Jerry Juhl, head writer for the Muppets, a Happy Birthday on what would have been his 77th Birthday.

e discovered even more items in Paper Magic's Eueka Muppet Classroom line!

ABC's "the muppets" invades San Diego!

The Muppets weren't just inside the San Diego Convention Center last week. ABC's marketing team was in full force during Comic Con and took over the city of San Diego to promote the new series.

There was a giant angled sign outside Petco Park:

How giant was it? It was almost as high as the stadium,
And according to this photo, you could see Animal a block away!

Even San Diego's transportation was Muppetized! You could ride a pedicab with
Miss Piggy,

or like Matt Wilkie and Dave Hulteen did, share a ride with Kermit and Animal.

There was even a Gonzo pedicab as well!

If you were looking for something faster then a bike, you could hop aboard a Muppet skinned train!

Or, if you prefer vertical travel, there were Kermit and Miss Piggy elevators!

I'm hoping this wall-to-wall promotion extends across the country and internationally as well  once the show's premier gets closer. Be sure to let us know if you spot a giant billboard, taxi, or bus in your neighborhood!

Thanks to Matt Wilkie, Dave Hulteen, and our friends at ToughPigs for some of the images.

Happy Birthday, Dave Goelz!

Happy Birthday to Muppet performer, Dave Goelz!

Madame Alexander Muppet Plush - Now Available!

The long ago announced Madame Alexander Muppet plush are now available. Each 9" plush is available at Amazon using the links below:

Kermit:

Miss Piggy:
Other then Kermit's head looking rather small in proportion to his body, these plush dolls look very well done and much better then the prototypes we saw back at the 2014 Toy Fair:

They are also available directly through Madame Alexander's website, where you can get discounts if you sign up for their newsletter.

UPDATE:
We've gotten our dolls. Piggy and Fozzie look identical to the hero shots above and Kermit's head is much better then expected.

Animal, however has the biggest issues. You really have to work his fur to get him to look right, his eyes aren't placed correctly, and his mouth wants to stay wide open.

It is still MUCH better then the original prototype and it may be a case where you can one in better condition on the shelf.

Center for Puppetry Arts - Jim Henson Collection - Grand Opening Announced!

At long last we now know when the Center for Puppetry Arts' new expansion - including their Jim Henson Collection - will open!

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the one above must be worth at least three times that as Saturday. November 14th is announced as the date for the grand opening.

From their official announcement:

After many years of fundraising, design, and construction, the Center for Puppetry Arts invites you to celebrate the completion of its “Believe in Make Believe” campaign and the official opening of its new museum on Saturday, November 14!

The Worlds of Puppetry permanent exhibit will house the Global Collection gallery and the Jim Henson Collection gallery, the world’s most comprehensive collection of the work of Jim Henson.

Patrons will enjoy the newly expanded 7,500 square foot museum space, as well as a renovated entryway, expanded museum store, new research library, and other exciting updates to the Center.
Great museums are characterized by their ability to continually educate, inspire, and evolve,” said Vincent Anthony, Center for Puppetry Arts founding Executive Director. “Our team has been preparing for this day for many years, and we are thankful for the generous contributions from the Jim Henson family, our benevolent donors, generous Members, and the support of our community. This is a true turning point for the Center for Puppetry Arts – and we welcome visitors to come discover the magic and wonder that lie behind these doors.”

Grand opening festivities will include well-known walk-around Henson characters, photo opportunities, and other engaging activities that will make the day a festival-like celebration.

Members and donors can be among the first to experience the new museum in a week-long series of preview events before the grand opening! More details on these preview events will be shared at a later date. Click here to become a Member and receive access to these preview events plus other great benefits all year long.

If you didn't win any of the items Steve Whitmire donated, and would still like to contribute
to the Center's expansion, they will announce details in August for the general public to support the “Believe in Make Believe” campaign. To date they have raised more than $14 million!
